Candidates for Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers by Dr. Morin are a suitable option for men and women looking to combat fat and volume loss in the facial region. Dermal fillers are injectable solutions composed of a variety of substances that are designed to reverse signs of aging. Their innovative formulation restores volume loss, reduces wrinkles and scars and boosts collagen development for a more youthful appearance. Injectables are a great option for clients who have specific problematic areas that they do not wish to address with surgery.

Our Selection of Dermal Fillers

Juvéderm®

Juvéderm injectable gel is a safe, effective gel that restores volume to the skin and smoothes away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Juvéderm gel is made of hyaluronic acid and has a silky consistency, allowing for easy injections and instant, natural looking results. There is no pre-testing necessary with this product. Juvéderm offers significant improvement for the following areas:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Deep facial creases
  • Marionette lines
  • Smoker’s lines
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Hollowed cheeks,
  • Improved jaw line

At our NJ area offices, we offer several formulas of Juvéderm to address all of your concerns. Each unique option withholds a different level of consistency, perfectly targeting and correcting a variety of aesthetic needs. Juvéderm Ultra XC, Ultra Plus XC, and Voluma XC are injected by expert plastic surgeon Dr. Morin. Lidocaine, an injectable anesthetic has recently been added to Juvéderm® in order to numb the treatment area and minimize any potential discomfort. The results of this filler are visible right away and can last up to a year.

Restylane®

Restylane is an FDA-approved dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid that restores volume to the skin, lifting and smoothing out wrinkles and other fine lines. This procedure is most commonly used to offer correction in the following areas:

  • Glabellar lines (between the eyebrows)
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Add volume and shape to the lips
  • Smooth acne scarring
  • Correct hollowed eyes

Since Restylane is made from a natural substance found in the body, no pre-testing is required. Restylane produces results that last for several months through its ability to bind with water and remain in the skin. The results of this procedure are visible immediately.

Radiesse®

Radiesse is a synthetic injectable filler that has been approved by the FDA to reduce wrinkles, folds and creases around the nose and mouth by stimulating the natural production of collagen in the skin. This product is made of microspheres composed of calcium hydroxylapatite within a water-based gel and is made from minerals similar to the composition of our bones. Radiesse can be injected directly into the skin without pre-testing. The results of this procedure are visible immediately after the injection and can last up to a year. With continued treatment, patients often require fewer and fewer injections.

Radiesse is most effective in transforming the appearance of:

  • Smile lines
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Marionette lines
  • Cheek bones
  • Jaw line

Sculptra®

Sculptra is an injectable filler that restores facial fat loss due to the effects of lipoatrophy, including sunken cheeks, hollowed eyes and other indentations. This filler is injected below the surface of the skin in the areas of fat loss. The Sculptra injection consists of an alpha hydroxyl acid called poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA. This product is safe, synthetic, biocompatible, biodegradable and long lasting. No pre-testing is required for Sculptra treatments. Sculptra is the best option for treating:

Dermal fillers Questions and Answers

How are dermal fillers injected?

Dermal fillers are FDA-approved and safe for use by most patients. Many of the fillers are made from substances found naturally in the body, or synthetically made to mimic natural substances. Fillers are generally injected into or just beneath the skin of the targeted area in order to restore volume and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. At Dr. Morin’s office, we use a combination of several different dermal fillers in order to provide the best possible results based on an individual’s needs.

How should I prepare for my facial injections?

Dermal fillers are a fairly quick procedure and require little to no preparation. However, for optimal results, we recommend patients refrain from smoking and drinking alcohol 2 weeks prior to treatment. Dr. Morin will offer a list of medications to avoid at your consultation prior to the procedure.

What are the results of dermal fillers?

The results of injectable fillers typically last from a few months to up to a year. However, this is contingent upon the type of filler used and the area of your face that’s addressed. Facial filler injections at our NJ area offices fill hollowed areas of the face, lines and wrinkles in less than an hour. They plump thin lips, fade scars and enhance facial symmetry while allowing patients to return almost immediately to their normal schedule.

What Risks are Associated with Dermal Fillers?

Injectable fillers such as Sculptra, Radiesse, Juvederm and Restylane target areas of the face that lack volume. If you are considering dermal fillers, New Jersey plastic surgeon Dr. Morin is a leading provider. Due to the risks associated with fillers, a board-certified expert offers the best results and helps to avoid:

  • Bruising, swelling, and pain
  • Itching
  • Skin inflammation or infections
  • Pigment discoloration
  • Bumps in skin
  • Potential scarring, blindness, and a chance of stroke (when treatment is not performed by a professional and injection hits a blood vessel)
