Ear Reconstruction

Ear Reconstruction - Before and After Treatment Photos - female patient 1

Patient Information: An otoplasty or ear pinning back surgery was performed on this 14 year old girl who did not like the way her ears stuck out from the side of her head. A well hidden incision behind the ear was used in order to correct the prominent ear deformity using a combination of suturing techniques. The postoperative photographs demonstrate a normal ear that is properly shaped and contoured.

Ear Reconstruction - Before and After Treatment Photos - female patient 2

Patient Information: An otoplasty was performed on this 25 year old girl who did not like her prominent ears. A well hidden incision behind the ear was used in order to correct the prominent ear deformity using a combination of suturing techniques. The postoperative photographs demonstrate a normal ear that is properly shaped and contoured.

Ear Reconstruction - Before and After Treatment Photos - female patient 3

Patient Information: An ear reconstruction (otoplasty) was performed on this 11 year old girl with a prominent left ear. Several techniques were used in order to properly fold the ear cartilage and secure the ear in a position closer to the patients head. The result is a less prominent ear that has a normal shape, contour and position.

Ear Reconstruction - Before and After Treatment Photos - male patient 4

Patient Information: An otoplasty was performed on this 34 year old man who did not like his prominent ears. A well hidden incision behind the ear was used in order to correct the prominent ear deformity using a combination of suturing techniques. The postoperative photographs demonstrate a normal ear that is properly shaped and contoured. This procedure has improved the overall appearance of the patient’s entire face.

Ear Reconstruction - Before and After Treatment Photos - male patient 5

Patient Information: This 26 year old international patient presented several years after a car accident resulted in the complete amputation of his ear. Many reconstructive surgeries were attempted in his home country, however, he desired a better result. Bone anchored implants were placed into his cranial bone and an incredibly realistic prosthetic ear was sculpted by the anaplastologist Dr. Morin regularly works with. The result is dramatic.

Ear Reconstruction - Before and After Treatment Photos - male patient 6 (oblique view)

Patient Information: A partial ear reconstruction was performed on this 29 year old gentleman who had the outer third of his ear bitten off in a fight. A rib cartilage graft was used to reconstruct the ear framework and a skin flap was taken from the tissue behind the ear to complete the reconstruction. The final result demonstrates a new helical rim and scapha that appears completely normal at conversational distance.

Ear Reconstruction - Before and After Treatment Photos - female patient 7 (side view)

Patient Information: A complete ear reconstruction was performed in this patient with microtia or congenital absence of the ear. A new ear framework was carved out of the patient’s rib cartilage and placed below the skin in the proper location. Using a patient’s own cartilage has many advantages over using ear implants. A secondary procedure was performed to elevate the ear framework off of the side of the head. The postoperative photograph demonstrates an anatomically correct ear constructed entirely out of the patient’s own tissue.
